Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the information shown in the comment form (name, email, and comment), plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you use Gravatar, an anonymized string of your email may be sent to Gravatar to confirm you’re using the service. After approval, your profile picture (if any) may be visible with your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These last up to one year.

WordPress also sets session cookies for logged-in users (administrators).

Embedded content from other websites

Articles may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, or articles). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other site directly. Those sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction.

Email routing: MailChannels (via DreamHost)

Spam detection: Akismet or similar, if enabled

Gravatar: profile images if you use the service (see Automattic Privacy Policy)

How long we retain your data

Comments: stored indefinitely so follow-up comments can be auto-approved.

Contact form entries (if submitted): up to 12 months.

What rights you have over your data

You may request an exported file of personal data we hold about you, or request erasure. This excludes data we must keep for legal, administrative, or security reasons.

Where your data is sent

Comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Cookie consent is managed with Complianz; IP addresses are anonymized.
